On Saturday, September 12, approximately 30 coaches, athletes, and friends from Integrated Fitness of Dover (IF) walked from the fitness facility at 44 Dover Point Road, Dover, to the Dover Food Pantry at 1 Silver Street. The group wore backpacks full of canned goods and non-perishable items that they carried during the walk (two miles each way).
“We were thrilled at how many people donated food for this event, but were even more surprised at how many folks showed up to walk,” said co-owner Candace Lord. “This was our first attempt at something like this and we will definitely do it again!”
The group was well received by the new Food Pantry Director, Jen Spargo, and the outgoing director, Karen Robichaud. They were amazed at the amount of food the group was able to carry – a shopping cart and several boxes worth!
The Dover Food Pantry was founded in 1979 and is located at One Silver Street. The Pantry is supported by local churches through Dover Cooperative Ministries and is open Tuesdays, 3–5 p.m. and Thursdays, 9–11 a.m.
